Robert Settle, Founder & President

Southside Mortgage Corporation is led by Robert Settle, a seasoned mortgage professional with 50 years of lending and banking experience across Southside Virginia and the Tidewater region. Robert founded the company in 1998 after a successful career in commercial banking, with the goal of offering borrowers a more personal and dependable mortgage experience.

A Career Built on Experience

• 1976–1989 — Loan Officer & Manager, Commercial Banking (Virginia Beach, VA)

• 1989–1991 — Vice President / Manager, Benchmark Community Bank (South Hill, VA)

• 1998–Present — President, Southside Mortgage Corporation

Robert’s decades of experience in credit evaluation, borrower counseling, underwriting principles, and rural lending directly benefit every borrower he works with.

Robert has a long history of civic leadership, including:
